Tis the Season

One of the things I LOVE that Sofia is excited about is cooking and baking. She loves to help me in the kitchen! She enjoys mixing things, measuring things, peaking inside the oven door to see yummy things being cooked. As a result of her interest in cooking she is also interested in trying the food that we cook. It might be a fish, roasted veggies, something sweet or something strange. Either way she is trying to be a total foodie and I LOVE IT!

Here are some pictures of us helping Nonnie cook up her special family recipe, Italian Pizzelle cookies. These cookies are amazing. They are full of Anise oil and Anise seeds giving them a robust flavor of licorice. These buttery cookies are pressed onto an iron resulting in beautifully decorated cookies. I am so glad Sofia enjoyed baking with her Nonnie and look forward to many more years of Sofia helping her with this tradition. I was able to get the recipe for the delicious cooking and hope to continue this baking tradition!
