Catching Up!

Nearly seven months have passed since my last blog entry and I’ve seriously slacked on updating this blog to say the least. I’ve become blog deficient and blog neglectful. It’s amazing, two kids, full time work, fulltime school and commuting makes the free moments so valuable, the last think I want to do is reminisce over the crazy and hectic day and rehash it all out in blog form. However, after Emilia’s bath tonight, I was rocking her to sleep and snuggling with her and realized; I’m missing all the wonderful moments I documented with Sofia.

Why is it that the first child always gets the attention and focus of all those tiny “firsts”…

”ah look honey, she just grew out of her newborn clothes”, “ah, our baby is crawling”, “What a big girl, no more diapers for you!” Now with the second it’s more like “what!? Your already in 6-9 months!”, “Oh no, she’s crawling…no I really have to watch her”, or the best “Gosh, I can’t wait to potty train so we can stop buying diapers”.

I still look back at this blog with such fond memories of Sofia and the life changing experience she gave to Nick and I and I want the same memories with Emilia. Emilia is such a soft hearted and lovable little girl. She looks at you and just melts your hear with her lovable eyes. She has changed our lives in more ways than one.

So, let’s try and recap the last 7 months-

Where to begin…Sofia; WOW can’t believe my baby girl is almost 4 years old!! I know it’s not new hearing me say this, but she truly is a unique little girl. Her personality is filled with colorful explanations, inquisitive interpretations and hilarious remarks. Just the other day, while sitting at the dinner table eating dinner, she stopped mid bite and spread her arms and said with such innocent love “I love you guys”. And then there’s the repeating…I was walking through the house the other day and thought I was alone. WRONG. My shadow was not too far behind and head me say “I have so much sh@# to do”, she came into the room repeating me and as I was trying to discipline her, the whole time I was holding back laughter. These moments make all the hectic and stress filled duties of being a parent totally worthwhile.

Emilia, my little Bubble! She is growing as fast as I can sort of the bins and bins of clothes that I have saved from Sofia. Poor younger sister always get the hand me downs. Emilia looks cute in just about anything. She is growing so fast and is a little on the chunky side. It’s amazing to see her growing and transform from this tiny little newborn into a chunky and inquisitive baby going on toddler. It’s amazing to see the two girls interact with each other. Emilia is infatuated with Sofia. She watches her every move, attempts to mimic and laugh at Sofia’s quirkiness.

So, my goal is to keep up with my blogging efforts and document the things that make me smile each day. For those of you that follow this, thanks for reading and sharing these precious moments with us.

Imagine-

Sofia found a new bed…our linen shelf in the bedroom.  Nick and Sofia love to use their imagination and create fun pretend adventures.  I love to hear Nick and Sofia make up stories and imagine their hunting for snakes under the sofa or dinosaurs in the backyard.  Here Nick was telling Sofia this was her new bed…she LOVED IT!

Tonight, Nick brought Sofie a surprise- her first blood orange- She was convinced it was a regular orange and then once Daddy cut it in half...she was so surprised to find the red color.

Bum, biddy, bum, biddy, bum, bum, BUMBO!!!

So, in the ever changing world of parenthood the smallest changes mean the world! I almost forgot about some of these amazing moments now that Sofie is getting bigger. Sometimes I look at Sofie and see that her baby face is slowly turning into a gorgeous little girl with an amazing sparkle in her eye and such an adventurous outlook on her little world.

We’ve been given the chance to experience all these amazing moments all over again with our little Emilia.

Here she is sitting up with the assistance of the Bumbo chair…this is one of the tools that a parent LOVES during this stage. She is not able to sit up by herself just yet, but with this chair she’s able to. This little amazing purple chair gives Mommy and Daddy’s arm a little rest….ahhhh~

Out and About-

Just wanted to share some pictures of our latest outings-

My oldest niece turned 12 this year. Her birthday is on Christmas day and her birthday party celebrations sometimes get pushed back a little. This year, we celebrated at Amazing Jakes Family Fun Center. Think of Chuck E. Cheeses mixed with a little Game Works. We had TONS of fun and Sofia really enjoyed hanging with all the “big kids”.

I provided the cupcakes for the party- Katie is one of my biggest fans.

Here is Sofie and her Uncle Ryan

Happy Birthday Katie!

Nana, Emilia and Papa

Here is my beautiful niece- Katie.  I can't believe how much she has grown.  She looks so beautiful in this picture!

Bowling time! First ever for Sofie!

Bryan showing Arianna his tips on bowling-

Nick showing off his wrestling shirt~

Sofie did such a great job!!

it was sooo cute, each time she had to watch the ball go down the gutter.

Perfect way to end the night~

Sofia has been sick these last few days. So, once she started to feel a little better she told Daddy, “I want to go see the Gorillas”. Now, even though the Phoenix Zoo does not have Gorillas…we headed down to the zoo.

Sofia is just like Nick, they both have a true love for animals. Sofia loves to see all sorts of animals!

This Saturday was Tillamook Cheese day at the Zoo.  If you wore an orange shirt, you earned free admission!

Here is a picture of one of Sofies favorites- the Sumatran Tiger

It's not a really good picture, but this is my favorite animal- White Rhinoceros

Another favorite of Sofies- Mandrill

Sofie with the Hamadryas Baboon

Sofie playing in the tree house

Before even getting past the gates, guessed what Sofie found... the Endangered Species Carousel.   Sofie LOVES any sort of carousel.  We went on a total of 12 rides while at the Zoo. It's funny what we'll do for our kids.

Another animal, another ride...

all in all, it was a great family day!

Dust is still setteling ~

2011…two kids and still kicking! I must say, it’s been a change. When Nick and I decided we wanted another baby, we both knew it would change things and shift our “routine” a bit...but, WoW!!

Let’s just say, adding another kid into the mix has been an adjustment. Just when I thought we had a pretty good schedule down; all the planning and routines have been thrown up into the air and still have yet to fall and settle. Don’t get me wrong, Emilia is an amazing blessing and I love having a complete family but I think the amount of grey hair is quadrupling! Since having Emilia, the first two months have been easy! Emilia is such a great baby. I’m not just saying that because she’s mine. She sleeps eats and poops like clockwork. With the exception of a slight case of jaundice and bypassing the whole breastfeeding thing, she has literally been the perfect kid! She started sleeping up to six hours during the night at about 1 ½ months and is doing wonderfully at progressing along…smiling, focusing on objects and putting on weight. Each doctor’s appointment, the pediatrician says she is thriving and in the upper percentile of her age group.

Sofia is also doing an amazing job in her new role as big sister. She is protective, caring, loving and inquisitive. She wants to help with just about everything…well except the poopie diapers!

Here are some pictures I took of the two of them.

I love seeing her little smirks and smiles!

Sofia is always looking after her little sister.

Lately, our lives have been staying pretty close to home.  Both Nick and I are still plugging away at school.  Nick should be done with his MBA in just a few short months.  I however, feel like my degree is still far, far away.  I should be done near the beginning of next year fingers crossed! My maternity leave has come to an end and I’ve gone back to work.  Going back to work has been bitter sweet to say the least.  I loved my bonding time with Emilia and loved having seeing her move away from the “newborn infant” look into a beautiful baby!

Here is a picture of something that Nick and I thought was one of her milestones.  It’s an actual recognizable picture she drew all by herself! Sofie was so proud of her little man!

Another big thing that recently happened- Sofia went from sleeping in her crib/toddler bed into a “big girl” bed/ twin bed.  She was so excited helping her Daddy to put it together!

Sofia has really enjoyed sleeping in her big girl bed on her princess sheets.  Now all we need to do is redo the décor.
